Products
This is an overview of our product lines. Our fibers are used by stitchers of all kinds. We offer fibers that can be specific to particular types of handwork, but we encourage you to experiment and “play” with all of them. There are no limits as to how they can be used in stitched pieces.
You can be creative and see other ways that the colors and materials can be used together for different types of stitch work. We have the unique ability to create each of our colors in
any of our product lines. For instance, 2104 Deep Sea is available in all of our lines and all fibers of the same color match one another when moved throughout our entire product range. Any color can be created in any line (if not available), so please let us know if you would like a specific color in a different product line (fiber type).
Embroidery Floss
This hand over-dyed, 6 stranded cotton fiber was our initial product line. It was introduced into the cross stitch market/industry and is our largest line with the most colors. The colors are variegated enough to be noticeable, yet subtle enough to blend naturally. Because it is pliable, this fiber is perfect for cross stitch
and needlepoint on many different counts of fabric and canvas. It is also works great for punch needle (1, 3 and 6 strand) and stitching on wool appliqué and penny rugs. It gives a more subtle appearance to the fine stitching on appliqué than some of the heavier fibers like pearl cotton.
Wool Fabric
Our 100% hand dyed wool fabric is colorfast, felted and great for wool appliqué, penny rugs and rug hooking. It is perfect for pillows, purses, clothing and the finishing of cross stitch and needlepoint pieces. Wool with heat-set woven, fusible interfacing can also be used for punchneedle. We offer each color in three patterns; solid, houndstooth and herringbone. The three can be used separately or mixed within a design or project. The solid wool colors are the most popular, but the houndstooth and herringbone can add pleasant texture, detail and dimension to a design.
Sewing Thread
Our size 40 sewing thread is 100% cotton and hand over-dyed. This colorfast fiber is perfect for quilting. It can be used on both machine and hand quilted pieces. It is also great for punchneedle when used with a #1 strand needle. Because it comes on a 450 yard spool, the needle does not have to be threaded very often when
doing punchneedle. There is a thread holder base available, which is especially helpful when hand quilting or doing punchneedle.
Pearl Cottons (sizes #3, #5, and #8)
All of our pearl cottons are 100% hand over-dyed cotton, with the #3 being the thickest and #8 being the finest of the three weights. Each of these fibers is perfect for needlepoint and can be used on different mesh canvas. All three weights work well for the stitches on wool appliqué and penny rugs. Because the #3 is the heavier than the others, it draws more attention to the individual stitches on the appliquéd pieces. This size is popular for primitive-styled designs. Since the #8 is much finer, the appliqué piece changes in appearance and the wool’s color, texture and shape become the focal point of the design and not the stitches themselves. The #5 is the most commonly used of our three sizes because it draws some attention to the stitches on an appliquéd piece, without taking away from the overall design.
